ANOTHER LANGUAGE
FOR THE INNER WORLD.

Sometimes what we are trying to understand becomes clearer when we approach it through symbol, image, story, and archetype.
Tarot and astrology can offer symbolic frameworks for exploring questions of identity, relationship, transition, possibility, and meaning—inviting reflection from perspectives that ordinary conversation may not always reach.
EXPLORE SYMBOLIC PRACTICES →

Symbolic & Archetypal Practices

SYMBOLS CAN HELP US SEE WHAT LANGUAGE ALONE SOMETIMES CANNOT

NOT EVERYTHING WE KNOW ABOUT OURSELVES

ARRIVES AS A THOUGHT.

Sometimes an image, symbol, story, or pattern allows us to approach a question from a different direction.

Human beings have used symbolic systems for thousands of years to explore meaning, identity, relationship, transition, uncertainty, and the mysteries of human experience.

Stories, myths, dreams, rituals, images, and archetypal figures can give form to experiences that may initially be difficult to articulate.
Tarot and astrology can be approached in a similar way.

Rather than requiring us to accept a particular belief about what these systems are, they can create a structured encounter with symbol, one that invites association, imagination, curiosity, reflection, and conversation.

A card may evoke something unexpected.

An archetype may illuminate a familiar pattern.

An astrological placement may introduce a question we had not considered.

A symbol may give language to something we sensed but had not yet been able to name.

The value of the exploration does not necessarily depend on proving that the symbol contains an objective answer.

Sometimes its value lies in what the encounter with the symbol helps us notice.

SYMBOL
Something captures our attention.

ASSOCIATION
Memories, feelings, questions, images, or ideas begin to emerge.

REFLECTION
We become curious about why this particular material feels meaningful.

INTEGRATION
What we discover is brought back into the context of our actual life.

SYMBOL → ASSOCIATION → REFLECTION → INTEGRATION
The symbol may open the conversation. You decide what the conversation means.

CURIOSITY RATHER THAN CERTAINTY
This deserves its own small subsection because it establishes your philosophy clearly.

Symbolic work at Transforma is approached with curiosity, discernment, and personal agency.

Tarot and astrology are not used to dictate what you should do,
determine your future, define your personality, or replace your own judgment.

Instead, we can ask:

What does this symbol bring to mind?

What feels familiar here?

What challenges your existing perspective?

What possibility have you not considered?

What are you noticing in yourself as you encounter it?

And perhaps most importantly:

WHAT BECOMES VISIBLE
WHEN WE STOP ASKING
THE SYMBOL FOR AN ANSWER
AND BEGIN LISTENING
FOR A QUESTION?

TAROT AS A REFLECTIVE PRACTICE

SOMETIMES AN IMAGE
OPENS A DOOR
THAT WORDS HAVE NOT.

Tarot can create a visual and symbolic language for exploring questions that may not have an obvious answer.

A Tarot deck contains a rich landscape of human experience, beginnings and endings, desire and fear, conflict and connection, uncertainty and possibility, loss and renewal, power and vulnerability.

When a card appears in the context of a question, the image can interrupt our usual way of thinking.

Something in the card may resonate.

Something may create resistance.

A figure, gesture, landscape, or archetype may remind us of an experience, relationship, conflict, or part of ourselves.

Rather than asking only:

“What does this card predict?”

the work becomes more interesting when we ask:

“What does this card invite me to notice?”

THE CARD DOESN'T HAVE TO HOLD THE ANSWER

At Transforma, Tarot can be approached as a reflective and symbolic practice
rather than as a system that removes uncertainty or makes decisions for you.

The imagery provides another perspective from which to explore a question.

Your associations, reactions, memories, emotions, and interpretations become part of the process.
A reading might help you:
  • recognize a pattern you had not fully articulated
  • explore competing parts of yourself
  • consider a relationship from another perspective
  • examine fears or assumptions surrounding a decision
  • connect with an archetype or theme that feels meaningful
  • imagine possibilities beyond your habitual way of thinking
  • reflect on a transition, ending, beginning, or period of uncertainty
  • translate an intuitive sense into something you can examine more consciously
The purpose is not to surrender your agency to the cards.

It is to expand the conversation you are having with yourself.

A DIFFERENT WAY OF READING TAROT
IMAGE
What do you actually see?
Before reaching for an established interpretation, we can notice the imagery itself—figures, gestures, relationships, landscapes, colors, direction, tension, and movement.

ASSOCIATION
What does the image evoke in you?
A card may bring forward a memory, feeling, person, conflict, desire, fear, or idea that would not have emerged through direct questioning alone.

ARCHETYPE
What larger human pattern might be present?
Tarot contains recurring themes of initiation, choice, loss, transformation, power, relationship, identity, death, renewal, uncertainty, and becoming.
CONTEXT
How does this relate to the life you are actually living?
A symbol becomes more useful when we bring it into conversation with your circumstances rather than treating an interpretation as universally true.

POSSIBILITY
What becomes possible when you see the situation differently?
The reading can create enough distance from a familiar problem to reveal another perspective, question, or way forward.
IMAGE → ASSOCIATION → ARCHETYPE → CONTEXT → POSSIBILITY

TAROT & PERSONAL AGENCY

THE CARDS DO NOT
GET TO LIVE YOUR LIFE.

Tarot can be meaningful without becoming prescriptive.

A reading does not need to tell you whom to love, whether to leave a relationship, what career to choose, what will happen next, or which decision you must make.

Instead, Tarot can help us become more curious about the hopes, fears, assumptions, desires, conflicts, and possibilities
already surrounding the question.

You remain responsible for interpreting what feels meaningful—and for deciding what you do with it.

The cards can participate in the conversation. They do not have to have the final word.

ASTROLOGY AS A SYMBOLIC FRAMEWORK

A MAP DOESN’T TELL YOU
WHERE YOU HAVE TO GO.
IT CAN HELP YOU SEE

THE TERRAIN DIFFERENTLY.

Astrology can be approached as a symbolic map, one that offers another language for exploring identity, relationships, tension, transition, and possibility.

A natal chart brings together planets, signs, houses, aspects, and cycles into a complex symbolic system.

Rather than treating the chart as a fixed description of who you are or a predetermined account of what will happen, we can approach it as a framework for inquiry.

A placement may draw attention to a tension you recognize.

An aspect may offer language for seemingly contradictory parts of yourself.

A planetary cycle may provide a symbolic context for a period of transition.

A relationship between symbols may invite us to consider something from a perspective we had not previously explored.

The chart becomes less of a verdict about who you are and more of a landscape through which questions can be explored.
THE CHART IS NOT THE PERSON

YOU ARE ALWAYS MORE COMPLEX
THAN A SYMBOLIC SYSTEM
CAN DESCRIBE.

Astrological language can sometimes feel remarkably resonant.

At other times, an interpretation may feel incomplete, unfamiliar, contradictory, or simply not meaningful.

That matters.

The intention is not to make your experience conform to the chart.

Instead, we can place the symbolism alongside your lived experience
and become curious about where they meet, and where they do not.

Your experience remains primary.

WHAT MIGHT WE EXPLORE?
IDENTITY
How do you understand the different parts of yourself?

Astrological symbolism can create a framework for exploring identity, temperament, internal tensions, aspirations, and the different ways we experience ourselves across situations.

RELATIONSHIPS
What happens when your way of being encounters someone else's?

Symbolic exploration can create conversations around attachment, communication, attraction, difference, expectations, intimacy, boundaries, and recurring relational dynamics.

TRANSITIONS
What is changing—and what might that change be asking of you?

Astrological cycles can provide a symbolic container for reflecting on periods of transition, uncertainty, endings, beginnings, and reorientation.
TENSION & POLARITY
What if two seemingly contradictory parts of you both belong?

Rather than resolving every internal contradiction, symbolic work can help us become curious about competing needs, values, desires, and ways of being.

POSSIBILITY
What parts of yourself might deserve greater expression?

A chart can introduce archetypal possibilities that invite experimentation rather than prediction.

MEANING
What larger story are you making of this period of your life?

Astrology can offer symbolic language for exploring questions of direction, purpose, belonging, development, and the meaning we give to our experiences.
FROM SYMBOL TO LIVED EXPERIENCE

CHART → SYMBOL → QUESTION → REFLECTION → CHOICE

The chart provides the symbolic material. Your life provides the context.

This keeps Astrology firmly connected to the broader Transforma philosophy of integration and embodiment.

ASTROLOGY & PREDICTION

WHAT ABOUT PREDICTION?

Astrology has historically been used in many different ways, including predictive traditions.

The approach offered here emphasizes reflection, symbolic exploration, and personal meaning-making rather than certainty about future events.

Transits and planetary cycles may be explored as symbolic contexts for particular periods of life, but they are not treated as guarantees that a specific event will, or must, occur.

The question becomes less:

“What is going to happen to me?”

and more:

“What might be worth paying attention to as I move through this period?”

THE CHART CAN OFFER A PERSPECTIVE.
YOU STILL DECIDE

HOW TO LIVE THE LIFE.

Symbolic insight becomes most meaningful when it returns us to greater awareness, choice, and participation in our own lives.

PSYCHOLOGY & THE SYMBOLIC IMAGINATION

THE MIND DOESN’T SPEAK
ONLY IN WORDS.

Dreams, images, metaphors, stories, and symbols can sometimes express dimensions of experience that are difficult to reach through ordinary conversation alone.

Psychological exploration has long recognized that human beings make meaning through more than rational thought.

We dream.

We imagine.

We tell stories.

We recognize ourselves in characters and myths.

We use metaphor to describe experiences for which literal language feels insufficient.

And sometimes an image affects us before we fully understand why.

Symbolic practices can create another way of engaging this dimension of human experience.

Tarot and astrology are not psychological tests, diagnostic instruments, or substitutes for evidence-based assessment.

Instead, when appropriate, they can be approached as
symbolic frameworks that invite reflection, association, imagination, and dialogue.

THE SYMBOLIC IMAGINATION

A SYMBOL DOES NOT HAVE
TO BE LITERAL
TO BE MEANINGFUL.

Consider a dream.

A dream may contain a house, an animal, a stranger, a journey, a death, a storm, or a doorway.

We do not necessarily need to believe that the dream predicts a literal event for its imagery to become psychologically interesting.

We might instead become curious:

Why this image?

What does it evoke?

What associations arise?

Where does this theme appear in my life?

What part of myself might this image help me encounter?

Tarot and astrology can create similar opportunities for symbolic inquiry.

The question is not necessarily whether a symbol is objectively true.

The question can also be:

What becomes available for exploration when we encounter it?

ARCHETYPES & RECURRING HUMAN THEMES

Across cultures and throughout history, human beings have created stories and symbols around recurring experiences:
THE SEEKER
Leaving what is familiar in search of something more.

THE SHADOW
Encountering qualities we struggle to recognize or accept in ourselves.

THE LOVER
Desire, relationship, attraction, choice, and intimacy.

THE WARRIOR
Agency, courage, boundaries, conflict, and purposeful action.

THE DEATH & REBIRTH MOTIF
Endings, transition, surrender, renewal, and becoming.

THE GUIDE
Wisdom, mentorship, discernment, and the search for orientation.

These themes appear in mythology, literature, religion, dreams, art, film—and throughout symbolic traditions such as Tarot and astrology.
Their usefulness does not require every person to interpret them in the same way.

The meaning emerges in the relationship between the symbol and the person encountering it.

PROJECTION CAN BECOME INFORMATION

When we encounter an ambiguous image or symbol, we naturally bring something of ourselves to it.

Two people can look at the same Tarot card and notice entirely different things.

One person sees danger.

Another sees freedom.

Another notices loneliness.

Another notices possibility.

Rather than treating those differences as mistakes, we can become curious about them.

WHAT DID YOU NOTICE?

WHAT DID YOU FEEL?

WHAT DID YOU ASSUME?

WHAT STORY DID YOU CREATE?

WHY MIGHT THAT MATTER TO YOU?
:
SYMBOL → PROJECTION → CURIOSITY → INSIGHT → CHOICE

What we bring to the symbol can sometimes tell us as much as the symbol itself.

SYMBOLIC PRACTICE & PSYCHOTHERAPY

Tarot and astrology are not themselves forms of psychotherapy or validated psychological assessment.

When symbolic practices are incorporated into psychotherapy, they should be used only when clinically appropriate, consistent with the therapeutic relationship, and relevant to the client's interests and goals.

They may also be explored separately within appropriate non-clinical coaching or symbolic consultation, where the purpose and boundaries of the service are clearly established.

Participation in symbolic practices is always optional.

No client needs to believe in Tarot, astrology, archetypes, spirituality,
or any particular metaphysical framework in order to work with us.

HOW CAN I EXPLORE THIS WORK

THERE IS MORE THAN ONE WAYTO ENTER THE CONVERSATION.

Some people arrive with a specific question. Others are curious about a larger pattern, transition, relationship, or period of becoming.

Symbolic work can take different forms depending on what you are seeking and the context in which we are working together.

You do not need previous experience with Tarot or astrology, and you do not need to hold any particular spiritual or metaphysical belief.

What matters most is a willingness to approach the process with curiosity, reflection, and discernment.

TAROT EXPLORATION

A QUESTION. AN IMAGE. ANOTHER PERSPECTIVE.

A Tarot session can create focused space around a question, transition, relationship, decision, creative process, or area of uncertainty.

Rather than using the cards to prescribe an answer, we explore the imagery, associations, archetypes, tensions, and possibilities that emerge through the reading.

You might arrive with a clear question—or simply with the sense that something in your life deserves greater attention.

Possible areas of exploration:

Relationships · transitions · identity · creativity · decisions · recurring patterns · uncertainty · personal direction · meaning

ASTROLOGICAL EXPLORATION

A SYMBOLIC MAP OF A LIFE IN MOTION.

Astrological consultation can begin with the natal chart and expand into questions about the life you are actually living.

Together, we may explore particular placements, patterns within the chart, relationships between different parts of the chart, or planetary cycles that provide symbolic context for a period of transition or development.

The intention is not to reduce you to your chart.

It is to use the chart as another perspective from which to become curious about your experience.

Possible areas of exploration:

Identity · relationships · life transitions · recurring tensions · development · purpose · creativity · belonging · periods of change

TAROT + ASTROLOGY

SOMETIMES DIFFERENT SYMBOLIC LANGUAGES ILLUMINATE DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE SAME QUESTION.

Tarot and astrology do not need to be used separately.

An astrological chart may provide a broader symbolic landscape, while Tarot can create a more immediate encounter with a particular question or experience.

When appropriate, the two can be brought into conversation, without requiring either system to provide a definitive answer.

THREE CONTEXTS FOR SYMBOLIC WORK

01 — SYMBOLIC CONSULTATION
A dedicated exploration of Tarot, astrology, or both.

For people specifically seeking symbolic reflection around a question, transition, relationship, creative process, or period of life.

This is not psychotherapy or psychological assessment.

02 — TRANSFORMATIONAL COACHING
Symbolic practices may become one part of a broader coaching process.

When relevant to your interests and goals, Tarot, astrology, archetypal reflection, contemplative practice, or other symbolic approaches may be incorporated alongside conversation, reflection, experimentation, and intentional action.

Coaching remains a non-clinical service.

03 — PSYCHOTHERAPY
Symbolic material may sometimes enter psychotherapy when clinically appropriate and meaningful to the client.

Dreams, imagery, metaphor, archetypal themes, or client-requested symbolic practices may become material for exploration within the larger therapeutic process.

Psychotherapy remains psychotherapy. Tarot or astrology does not become a substitute for clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, or evidence-informed mental health care.
YOU CHOOSE THE LANGUAGE WE USE.

Some clients are deeply familiar with symbolic or spiritual practices.

Some are curious but uncertain.

Some prefer psychological language almost entirely.

All are welcome.

Tarot and astrology are invitations, not requirements.

Your work does not depend on accepting a particular worldview.

The goal is to find ways of exploring experience that are meaningful, responsible, and useful to the person in front of me.

WHO MIGHT THIS WORK SERVE?

WHO MIGHT THIS WORK SERVE?
YOU DON’T HAVE TO BELIEVE
IN A SYMBOL
TO BECOME CURIOUS

ABOUT WHAT IT EVOKES.

Symbolic practices may be especially meaningful for people who are curious about themselves and open to exploring experience from more than one perspective.

Some people come to Tarot or astrology because these traditions have been part of their lives for years.

Others arrive because they are navigating a transition, relationship, creative question, or period of uncertainty.

And some are simply curious about what might emerge when they approach themselves through a different language.

This work may resonate with people who are:
01 — NAVIGATING A TRANSITION
Something is changing, even if you cannot yet see what comes next.

Career changes, relationships, endings, beginnings, relocation, identity shifts, loss, aging, and other transitions can invite deeper questions about direction and meaning.

02 — EXPLORING IDENTITY
You are becoming curious about the different parts of who you are.

Symbolic systems can provide another language for exploring identity, internal tensions, values, desires, roles, and the ways we understand ourselves.

03 — ASKING RELATIONSHIP QUESTIONS
Relationships often reveal dimensions of ourselves that are difficult to see alone.

Tarot or astrology may provide symbolic material for exploring attraction, intimacy, communication, difference, boundaries, recurring dynamics, and what we bring into relationship.

04 — CREATIVELY STUCK OR EXPANDING
Sometimes creativity needs something unexpected to enter the conversation.

Artists, writers, performers, entrepreneurs, and other creators may use symbolic practices to disrupt habitual thinking, encounter new associations, and explore what is trying to take form.

05 — SEARCHING FOR DIRECTION
You may not need someone to tell you what to do. You may need a different way of seeing the question.

Symbolic exploration can create space around decisions without pretending to eliminate uncertainty.

06 — EXPLORING MEANING
Some questions are larger than problems to be solved.

Questions of purpose, belonging, spirituality, mortality, identity, transformation, and the kind of life we want to inhabit may benefit from languages capable of holding complexity and mystery.

YOU CAN BE SKEPTICAL AND STILL BE CURIOUS.

I want this line prominently displayed.

You do not need to decide whether Tarot is “true.”

You do not need to believe that planets determine personality.

You do not need to adopt a spiritual worldview.

And you do not need to dismiss mystery in order to remain psychologically grounded.

Symbolic exploration can exist in the space between certainty and dismissal.

We can engage what emerges, question interpretations, notice resonance, disagree with the symbolism, explore alternative meanings, and remain curious about why something affects us, or why it does not.

CURIOSITY · DISCERNMENT · AGENCY · MEANING

You remain the authority on your own experience.

AND YOU CAN ALREADY BELIEVE.

I would actually add this short paragraph too, because we don't want the site to bend so far toward skepticism that clients who genuinely value Tarot, astrology, spirituality, or mystical experience feel subtly invalidated.

If Tarot, astrology, spirituality, or symbolic traditions already hold meaning for you, you do not need to minimize that here.

Your beliefs can be approached respectfully and explored with curiosity, without requiring either of us to turn them into universal claims about reality.

That balance is very important to the Transforma identity:

OPEN TO MYSTERY.
GROUNDED IN DISCERNMENT.

SYMBOLIC & ARCHETYPAL PRACTICES FAQ

Do I need to believe in Tarot or astrology?

No.

You do not need to hold any particular spiritual or metaphysical belief to explore symbolic practices.
We can approach Tarot and astrology with curiosity, skepticism, belief, uncertainty—or some combination of these. What matters is whether the exploration feels meaningful and useful to you.

Is Tarot used to predict the future?

The approach offered at Transforma emphasizes reflection, symbolic exploration, and personal meaning-making rather than prediction or certainty about future events.

A Tarot reading may bring forward possibilities, patterns, tensions, hopes, fears, or perspectives worth considering, but the cards are not used to dictate what will happen or tell you what you must do.

Do you use astrology predictively?

Astrology has historically included predictive traditions, but the work offered here emphasizes symbolic exploration rather than certainty about future events.

Transits and planetary cycles may provide a symbolic context for exploring a particular period of life, but they are not treated as guarantees that specific events will occur.

What information do I need for an astrology session?

For natal-chart work, accurate birth date, birth location, and birth time are generally most useful.

If your exact birth time is unknown, let me know. We can discuss what forms of astrological exploration may still be appropriate while recognizing the limitations of the available information.

Can I book a Tarot or astrology session without being a therapy client?

Yes.

When offered as symbolic consultation, Tarot and astrology can be explored independently from psychotherapy.

The nature, purpose, and boundaries of the service will be established clearly so that symbolic consultation is not confused with mental health treatment.

Can Tarot and astrology be used together?

Yes.

An astrological chart can provide a broader symbolic landscape, while Tarot may offer another way of engaging a particular question, relationship, transition, or experience.

When useful, the two traditions can be brought into conversation without requiring either to provide a definitive answer.

Can we explore relationships through Tarot or astrology?

Yes.

Symbolic practices may provide material for reflecting on communication, attraction, difference, intimacy, recurring patterns, expectations, boundaries, and your experience within a relationship.

The purpose is not to determine whether two people are destined to be together or reduce compatibility to a chart or card spread.

Can these practices be incorporated into coaching?

Potentially.

When relevant to your interests and goals, symbolic and archetypal practices may become one component of a broader non-clinical coaching process.

They remain tools for exploration rather than substitutes for your judgment or agency.

Can Tarot or astrology be incorporated into psychotherapy?

Potentially, when clinically appropriate, relevant to the therapeutic work, and something the client wishes to explore.

Symbolic practices do not replace clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, or evidence-informed mental health care.
Their inclusion is always optional.

Are Tarot and astrology psychological assessment tools?

No.

Tarot and astrology are not validated psychological assessment instruments and are not used to diagnose mental health conditions or establish psychological facts about a person.

Within Transforma, they are approached as symbolic frameworks for reflection and exploration.

What if something in a reading doesn't resonate with me?

Then it does not have to become meaningful simply because it appeared in a reading or chart.

Questioning, disagreeing, reconsidering, and rejecting interpretations are all legitimate parts of the process.
Your lived experience takes precedence over an interpretation.

Will you tell me what decision to make?

The intention is not to transfer decision-making authority to Tarot, astrology, or to me.

We may explore perspectives, possibilities, tensions, and questions surrounding a decision, but you remain responsible for deciding what feels appropriate for your life.

What kinds of questions can I bring?

Almost any question that lends itself to reflective exploration may be worth discussing: relationships, identity, transitions, creativity, professional direction, recurring patterns, meaning, personal development, or simply a sense that something deserves attention.

For high-stakes medical, legal, financial, or mental-health decisions, symbolic practices should not replace appropriately qualified professional advice or care.

WHAT ARE YOU CURIOUS ABOUT?

SOMETIMES THE SYMBOL
DOESN’T GIVE US AN ANSWER.
IT GIVES US
ANOTHER WAY OF SEEING.

You do not need certainty to begin. Sometimes curiosity is enough.

Whether you arrive with a specific question, a period of transition, a relationship you are trying to understand, a creative threshold, or simply curiosity about what might emerge, symbolic exploration can create another space from which to encounter your experience.

You are invited to bring your questions.

Your skepticism.
Your intuition.
Your uncertainty.
Your beliefs.

And your willingness to discover what becomes visible when the conversation takes a different form.

THE SYMBOL OPENS THE DOOR.

YOU DECIDE

WHAT TO CARRY THROUGH IT.
